November 19th, 2009 | by admin |How much would they cost? And how did you get it?
69 x .25 = 17.25
so
$69.00 – $17.25 = $51.75

$69.00 – 25% of $69.00
25% = .25
69 – .25(69)
69 – 17.25
$51.75

ok x’s 69 by .25 69 x .25 = 17.25
subtract the discount of 17.25 from 69.00… 69.00- 17.25 = 51.75
total price after 25% off is $51.75

25% is going to be a quarter of the cost.
so:
$69.00 divide by 4. This equals the total discount that your going to receive (which is $17.25).
now, if you take the original price of the shoes, and take off the discounted amount, you’ll get this:
$69.00
minus
$17.25
equals
$51.75
I hope you understood that. Thats how i’d work it out, i know there are easier ways.
goodluck

Firstly you must find 25% of 69:
69 * 0.25
= 17.25
Then Subtract this from 69
69 – 17.25 = 51.75
Therefore the shoes would cost $51.75

To change percent to decimal, move the decimal over to the left two places. For example: 50%=.50,
75%=.75
You change 25% to a decimal by moving the decimal over to the left two places to make 25%=.25
Multiply $69 X .25 =$17.25
Then you Subtract $17.25 from $69 = $51.75

Multiply the original price, in this case $69 by .25 (which is the same as 25%). The result is 17.25, this is the 25% that is taken off. So then just subtract the discount from the original price, and you get $51.75.

Discount means the price is reduced, in this case, by 25%.
25% means 25/100, which simplifies to 1/4. When talking about a discount of 25%, it does not mean you pay 1/4 of the full price. It means you subtract 1/4 of the full price from your cost, or 3/4 of the full price.
So you multiply 69 by 3/4.
=69*3/4
=207/4
=51.75
Your shoes would cost $51.75. Not too bad if they’re Sketchers.

You multiply $69.00 by 0.25, then you get 17.25. Then take that away from 69.

Short cut method,
Selling Price(S.P)=
100 – Discount%
______________ x Marked Price(M.P)
100
= 100 – 25
_________ x 69
100
= 75
_____ x69
100
= 0.75 x 69 [simplification of fraction]
= 51.75
S.P = $ 51.75
Therefore, the shoes cost $ 51.75 after the discount offered.
