What does size 9 in men’s shoes convert to in women’s sizes?

I’m directing a play and I need to know what size of heels to get for my actor (who is playing cross-dressing male character) who has a men shoe size of 9 to 9 1/2.
What style of heels would you recommend for a guy? To help him get accustomed to heels (doesn’t need to be too high)
He probably has a lot wider feet than a woman would as well! Have him try a 11 or 12 wide.
I would also add that a thicker chunkier heel is much much more comfortable than a thin spike heel. I would recommend a 2-3 in heel in a chunky style.

Kitten Heels. And Size 11w for that purpose.
You always add two plus a width.
But for a woman to a man size you subtract to and a width.

Womens shoe sizes are 2 sizes bigger than mens. if he is a nine he’ll need a eleven if a nine and a half he’ll need an eleven and a half. i would also have him just go with you to get them, men’s feet are often wider than womens. When it comes to the type, nothing with a thin heel. something thick, it will make it easier for him to walk in. And definitely something close toed. I’m sure you’ll find something to make it work and if you dont, Mary Janes are a close comparison and so much easier to walk in =] good luck
