Why is it socially acceptable for women to wear "height increasing shoes" but not for men?

Men who wear shoes to increase their height are considered losers. But height increasing shoes are considered stylish for women. Why the double-standard?

Actually there were times when men wore the high heels, not women. And I guess you weren’t around in the 70’s cause chunky high heeled shoes were the fashion for men.

Just like why is it socially accepted for men to have hairy legs, but just plain disgusting when a girl does?

Have you seen the shoes Kanye West and lots of other rappers wear? They have lifts in them about a inch or two high, look at the trainers Kanye designed for Louis Vuitton:

    Those soles are pretty big.
